Is the wood dry enough? Have the bushman and women a sharp enough axe? Is the tinder just right? Are the matches dry? The Champion from last year has the contenders hot on his heels. Who will be first to boil the billy in 2023?
The Billy Boiling Competition at King of the Ranges is a crowd favourite and a symbol of true bushman spirit. Participants gather around eagerly preparing their fires for the challenge ahead. With hardened hands, they skillfully arrange the perfect combination of kindling and firewood, carefully balancing temperature control and speed. The air is filled with the comforting aroma of campfire smoke and as we know a watched pot never boils. As the competition intensifies, spectators cheer on their favourites.
